The Orc unions build powerful but temperamental scrap mechs and stagger forth to dominate the world.
Orcs have often been slaves and servants to others. They have never led themselves, preferring instead to follow powerful magic users or great warlords. For a long time after the fall they served the old alliance as warriors, workers and servants but they never reached for power or great wealth. However they do have an amazing ability to reinvent and repurpose the work of others. The old Alliance found this to be horrifyingly true when it created mechanical minds.
The orcs took these arcane thinking machines and began using them as new masters. To the shock of the alliance, when the orcs tampered with the mechanical minds and combined them with others, these machines grew more intelligent and ordered their orc servants to leave the alliance and travel in an exodus to the wastelands. With them the orcs took lots of technology and even some early plans for the first battlemech. There they began to build lives for themselves under their new masters.
The Mech Heaps, as they are often mockingly called, are battle mechs bolted together from scrap and assorted repurposed metal. Each Mech is, to some extent, unique and home to an orc union who work towards its general upkeep. The mech is piloted by the union’s mechanical minded leader who is welded directly into the mech's controls and many mechs join together to fight as a Scrap Syndicate. They clank and stomp their way into battle using temperamental overpowered weapons.
